Lanan Racing confirms permanent Ginetta switch

Lanan Racing are to remain with Ginetta for the rest of this season’s British GT campaign after concluding a permanent switch to the G55 GT4.

The Bedfordshire-based squad, which made its series debut at Brands Hatch last weekend, was forced to field alternative machinery after Porsche delayed customer deliveries of its all-new Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

The move was initially seen as a temporary solution, but Lanan has now confirmed it will return to the same manufacturer with whom it raced in last season’s ELMS LMP3 category.

The move appears to be a shrewd one based on Brands Hatch where Ginetta G55s filled all three podium positions. Lanan’s drivers Joey Foster and Alex Reed came home seventh having qualified ninth, despite limited testing owing to the delays.

Team manager Graham Johnson confirmed that uncertainty surrounding the Porsche’s delivery had forced Lanan’s decision.

“After seeing the Ginetta’s performance first hand at Brands Hatch we felt it was the obvious choice, He said. “We know Lawrence Tomlinson and the rest of his team well after our ELMS campaign and believe it will be right for us in GT4. There isn’t a huge amount of time before round two but I have complete confidence in Ginetta to ensure we're ready for it.

“The start to the season hasn't been ideal but this finally gives us some stability and takes away all of the uncertainty. It's a great car, and Joey and Alex both found the car to their liking at Brands. We'll be pushing up towards the front of the class, I'm sure.”
