2024: Forsetti brings new Aston to British GT4

The new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 is heading to British GT this year with Forsetti Motorsport.

Former title challenger Jamie Day teams up with 16-year-old Ginetta Junior front runner Mikey Porter in the #7 Silver class entry, while the second features reigning Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Am champion Marc Warren and Mini Challenge GB JCW runner-up William Orton.

Forsetti, meanwhile, was only established in November last year but is already achieving success on the continent with the previous generation Vantage, Porter and Day who are on course to win the GT4 Winter Series title.

Day is the only member of Forsetti’s driver roster with British GT experience. He and Josh Miller won twice in 2022 en route to third in the GT4 drivers’ standings with R Racing’s Aston Martin before Day – who races under a UAE license – switched to the GT4 European Series.

“I’m looking forward to kicking off our British GT campaign with the new car,” he said. “Working with the team over the past few weeks competing in Spain & Portugal, I know we have what it takes to compete for wins and the overall title, and I can’t wait to get started.”

His co-driver will be amongst the youngest on this year’s grid and finished fourth in last season’s Ginetta Junior standings after making his debut in 2022.

“Following a successful season in Ginetta Juniors, and most recently the GT4 Winter Series, the step up to British GT is one I’ve been working towards for a long time, and I’m really looking forward to kicking off the season later this year,” said Porter.

The opposite side of the garage will be competing for Pro-Am honours but also possesses the pace – on paper at least – to challenge for the overall crown. Warren’s Porsche title came a year after he also won the Ginetta GT Academy GTA crown, while Orton is a former Ford Fiesta Junior runner-up and Ginetta GT5 race winner.

“Competing in British GT has been a long held ambition, and following a successful first few years competing and winning in the Ginetta GT Academy, and the Porsche Sprint Challenge, I’m ready to take on this new challenge of endurance racing,” said Warren. “I have been blown away by the welcome and the professionalism of everyone in the Forsetti Motorsport team and am already developing a great relationship with my very quick team-mate Will Orton. With such a strong team dynamic and the stunning new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 at our disposal, we have everything ready for launch!”

Orton added: “I’m excited to take the step up to British GT with Forsetti Motorsport. The team have an incredible mission, and I’m excited to play my part along with Marc, hopefully securing as many podiums and wins as we can along the way.”

At least one of the new Vantages is expected to make its European public debut at British GT media day on March 12.
