Pirelli presents the P Zero DHG for GT racing

• New generation tyre features improved performance and FSC™-certified natural rubber component

SRO Motorsports Group’s national and continental GT2, GT3 and GT4 championships will use the new generation of Pirelli P Zero DHG tyres from 2025.

The slick racing tyre features numerous innovations which go beyond pure performance compared to the previous DHF construction introduced in 2022. For example, the natural rubber component of this new family of tyres is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™)* in line with the Pirelli range, which as from last year was developed for Formula 1®.

DHG makes its first appearance during the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard this week (March 10-11). Its competitive debut will then come at the same venue on April 11-13 when the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli and GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club join their GT3 counterpart in France.

The tyre will then be rolled out across SRO’s various championships in Asia, America and Australia throughout 2025.

P Zero DHG’s predecessor, the DHF, has been the cornerstone of SRO’s global activities for the past three years. Its replacement includes a range of sizes per class, as well as innovations and materials that provide a wider working range, faster warm-up and greater consistency in terms of car balance over long distances.

The new GT2 and GT4 spec tyres also feature those materials, as well as a new carcass with an optimised profile and construction that ensure a more uniform footprint across all track conditions for all cars.

The arrival of DHG also completes Pirelli’s overhaul of a GT range that includes the Cinturato WHB wet tyre. Introduced in 2024 solely for GT2 cars and in some championships also GT3, the latest evolution of Pirelli’s treaded tyre will be the standard across the board for all GT cars in SRO’s main championships.

Just like its slick counterpart, Cinturato WHB also contains FSC™-certified natural rubber, as well as a new, stiffer tread design thanks to the use of innovative materials. The new compounds have contributed to improving the footprint, while optimising grip and warm-up at low temperatures. The stability in the transition from wet to dry conditions has not been compromised, nor has its sensitivity to aquaplaning, which has in fact improved. Finally, its operating window in a race has been expanded.

FSC™ CERTIFICATION
The tyres supplied to Formula 1 by Pirelli were the first in any form of motorsport to use FSC™- certified natural rubber, and now the entire range for GT cars will also carry the Forest Stewardship Council™ logo. This indicates that all the natural rubber used in the tyres** comes from plantations that are managed to ensure biodiversity, as well as benefiting the people who live and work in these areas. This stringent FSC™ certification process ensures that all certified material is kept separate from that which is not certified throughout the supply chain from the plantation to the tyre manufacturer.

This extension of certification to the rubber used in the range of GT tyres is confirmation of Pirelli’s commitment to seeking solutions that accelerate motorsport’s path towards sustainability, in line with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and the promoters of the various championships in which it is involved.

For a seventh consecutive year, Pirelli has been placed among the global leaders in the battle against climate change, featuring on the 2024 Climate A list, produced by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), the international non-profit organisation that gathers, disseminates and promotes information on environmental issues. Pirelli is also the first tyre manufacturer to be awarded three stars under the FIA’s Environmental Accreditation Programme.

Such values are also important to SRO whose sustainability programme lies at the heart of company operations.

SRO MOTORSPORTS GROUP AND PIRELLI
Pirelli is the exclusive tyre supplier to SRO series competing across the globe, as well as all standalone GT4 licensed series and the GT2 European Series.

Its partnership began with what is now known as GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup back in 2013 before the most recent five-year extension began at the start of last season.

Pirelli will therefore remain SRO’s official tyre supplier until the end of 2028 at the earliest.

Events include the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, the highlight of the global SRO calendar and ultimate exemplar of Pirelli's expertise. The event requires a truly remarkable effort from the firm, which provides approximately 15,000 tyres from its state-of-the-art fitting village within the paddock.
