Danny Gower’s late-season entry ended Callum Dunn’s TORA British GT Championship winning streak at Snetterton last weekend.
The Limitless Racing Team driver made a perfect debut thanks to his brace of victories and pole position at the Norfolk circuit.
Gower’s Audi secured pole for the opener by eight tenths from the JAM Racing Aston Martin, while championship leader Dunn lined up an uncharacteristic third. However, that was still one place ahead of his main title challenger and real-world British GT race winner, Alex Reed, who endured a troublesome session.
From the start, Gower made good his escape and was not troubled by the battling trio behind. Dunn eventually broke through and past the JAM Aston to secure second place in what was fast becoming a weekend of damage limitation.
But of greater importance was Reed’s inability to capitalise in a similar fashion. He remained fourth throughout, losing valuable points to the HCR McLaren driver as a result.
But it was a positive return to form for JAM Racing who secured their first podium since Silverstone by finishing third.
Race two saw a second dominant win for Gower, although Dunn was close behind in second. There was also controversy over the final podium place when the JAM Aston and Reed, who had been third, collided on the last lap
That means 24 points now separate Dunn from Reed heading into the final pair of races at Donington Park this weekend when a maximum 250 points are up for grabs.
