Ebor GT’s Maserati is set to make its British GT return at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend following confirmation that Matthew Graham will partner championship debutant Charlie Fagg.
Marcus Hoggarth and Abbie Eaton took Ebor’s popular GT MC to fourth place in last season’s GT4 standings as well as second in the Pro/Am points, but the car hasn’t competed since the championship’s final round at Donington Park last September.
Now it’s set for a British GT return in the hands of all-Silver north-eastern pairing Graham and Fagg, for whom Spa will be their first competitive outing in the Maserati following a recent test at Donington.
Graham campaigned Macmillan AMR’s Aston Martin in 2016 and has made several British GT appearances as Hoggarth’s In2Racing McLaren co-driver this season, while Ginetta Junior graduate Fagg has spent 2017 competing in the European series aboard one of Sean Walkinshaw Racing’s Nissan 370Zs.
Graham, who finished third at Silverstone last time out, was also on the podium at Spa 12 months ago. He’s hoping that form and experience will help Fagg, who has never raced at the legendary Belgian track.
“Spa is one of every driver’s favourite circuits to go to and I think the pairing of Charlie and I will work quite well,” he said. “I’ve got a bit of experience of it from last year in British GT and before that in single-seaters, so hopefully I can help Charlie a lot in his first time over there.
“After getting a podium there last year, I’m quite confident we can go out and have a really good showing. I think I’m driving well and I’m just hungry to keep getting some results under my belt. I think that’s showed in the drives I put in at Silverstone to take third and Oulton Park to lay the ground to take second. It would be great if I could earn yet more silverware over there with Charlie and in what is such a fan favourite car.
“It’s will be a bit of a different weekend to what you normally get with a North Eastern pairing and team. There’s plenty going on down South so I think it’s nice to find a pairing from up in the North, especially so close with Charlie in Durham and me in Newcastle I think hopefully if we’re successful, it will be something to push.”
At least one further race-by-race GT4 car is expected to be included in British GT’s provisional Spa entry list, which will be revealed later today.
