Team HARD’s Hatfield and Wallace to make British GT debuts at Spa

Autoaid/RCIB Insurance Racing’s #36 Ginetta G55 GT4 will feature a new teenage driver pairing at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend following news that Adam Hatfield and Benjamin Wallace will make their British GT debuts.

The entry has featured several pairings so far this year, but the championship’s annual trip to Belgium will be the first time that two rookies have shared the seat.

17-year-old Wallace has spent the first half of 2017 competing in the VW Racing Cup aboard one of Team HARD’s Volkswagen Golfs. He finished 10th in the same championship 12 months ago following two seasons racing in the Ginetta Junior category.

Hatfield is also a tin-top convert having spent 2013-2015 competing in SAXMAX and the Renault Clio Cup. He finished seventh in the latter campaign before other commitments forced him to take a sabbatical last season.

“I am really excited to be making my return to racing after a lengthy period away, especially in a championship as high-profile as British GT,” said Hatfield. “The more we do in the car the more comfortable I’m beginning to feel. I’m really looking forward to working with Tony [Gilham, team owner] and the Team HARD guys at Spa later this week.”

The squad’s second Ginetta entry will also feature a change in personnel this weekend. Matt Chapman remains at the wheel but is partnered by 2014 British GT4 champion Jake Giddings who guested in the sister car at Snetterton earlier this year.

British GT’s seventh and eighth races of the season take place at Spa this Saturday.
