RJN Motorsport reveals Modell and Moore’s Nissan GT3 at Media Day

RJN Motorsport will step up to British GT’s senior class this season after announcing that Devon Modell and Struan Moore will campaign a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

The team already oversees UltraTek Racing’s two Nissan 370Z GT4s but, for the first time, will also now utilise its vast experience of running Nissan’s factory GT3 programme in the Blancpain GT Series domestically.

Moore and Modell represent the GT3 category’s only full-season Silver Cup pairing but arrive in British GT with significant experience. 22-year-old Moore was part of RJN’s Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup sqaud last season and also made a one-off British GT4 appearance with the team at Silverstone.

Modell, meanwhile, returns to British GT for the first time since 2014 when he and Andrew Jarman finished as runners-up in the GT4 class. Since then he has driven several different GT3 cars in Europe and beyond, and spent 2017 primarily contesting Blancpain GT Series Asia where he finished seventh overall despite missing one event.

The duo, who as a Silver Cup entry must carry additional weight to balance their combined advantage against the Pro/Am contingent, face tough opposition from an all-star GT3 cast featuring no less than seven factory drivers and several more highly experienced series regulars.

Nevertheless, it’s a challenge Modell is relishing.

“For me, the British GT Championship is unfinished business,” he said, with reference to 2014. “I’m really excited to be back in the series and I can safely say I am looking forward to getting the maximum out of this package having seen it in action recently testing at Snetterton.

“I really learned a lot last year in Asia. This stands me well for the coming season in British GT. I know the competition will be fierce, but I’m really looking forward to the challenge. I’ll be up against the very best GT racers in the world and that’s the level I feel I am at. I always race to win and I think we’ll be right up there.”

Team principal Bob Neville also believes his driver line-up has what it takes to topple the expected pace-setters.

“We’re delighted to welcome Devon to the team,” he said. “While we know the competition will be tough, we have a strong partnership here with our drivers and we’re confident that we’ll be competitive.”

RJN’s Motul-sponsored Nissan will be seen for the first time publically during today’s British GT Championship Media Day at Donington Park, before heading to Oulton Park for this season’s opening round on March 31 – April 2.
