Fannin joins Littler aboard PFL Motorsport Aston GT3

Former British GT4 champion Jody Fannin will remain in the series this season after switching to new Aston Martin GT3 squad PFL Motorsport alongside Pete Littler.

The 22-year-old claimed two podiums aboard a similar TF Sport-run Aston Martin V12 Vantage last season en route to seventh in the senior classification. It was the BRDC Rising Star’s first full year in the championship since his dominant GT4 title-winning campaign of 2012.

And Fannin is hoping that experience will come in handy with a team new to the British GT fold.

“Obviously I’m delighted to be back in British GT with a fresh challenge,” he said. “AMR have helped locate potential drives for me and that’s how it came about. The experience I gained driving the Vantage GT3 last year will help in 2016, as PFL are new to British GT.

“I’m hoping to carry the momentum of last season’s final rounds into the start of this year. We’re under no illusions as to how tough the opposition will be and are looking to bank some solid points in the opening rounds, then see what the rest of the year might hold.”

Despite Littler being classified as 40% disabled due to losing the lower section of his right leg, having false hips and a pin in his lower back, the Aston he and Fannin will share requires no modifications to race.

What’s more, a Prodrive engineer will be assisting PFL Motorsport throughout the year, while Hyundai’s former WRC team manager Paul Risbridger heads up the squad.

“Pete’s disability doesn’t at all impact on the car’s set-up or driving position,” added the Aston Martin Evolution Academy driver. “The steering position and pedal box layout are the same as I’m used to so there’s no compromise to consider. Pete’s also a very rapid driver. His former rally career attests to that. The most important thing is getting him up to speed in a GT3 car during pre-season testing so that we arrive at Brands for the opening round on the pace.”

This year’s British GT Championship kicks off at Brands Hatch on April 16/17.
