The #17 TF Sport Aston Martin in the hands of Marco Sorensen set the pace in first practice at the Donington Decider, whilst Scott Malvern was fastest in GT4

Overcast skies greeted the British GT field at the Leicestershire track but the action soon warmed up as the 34-car grid was released on to the track for the first 60 minute session. Most drivers wasted no time in getting in the laps and in the initial stages, Yelmer Buurman in the #116 ERC Sport Mercedes topped the timing screens.

Phil Keen soon took over at the top in the #33 Lamborghini but as time ticked down, Marco Sorensen set the ultimate pace in the #17 TF Sport Aston Martin, which he co-pilots with Derek Johnston. The #75 Optimum Motorsport machine of championship leaders Flick Haigh and Jonny ended second quickest, whilst an improvement from Nicki Thiim saw him slot into third in the #11 Aston.

Fourth went the way of Phil Keen ahead of Buurman, the #99 in the hands of Darren Turner and the #69 Lamborghini shared by Sam De Haan and Jonny Cocker. The top eight was rounded out by the #7 Team Parker Bentley of Ian Loggie and Callum Macleod.

In GT4, Scott Malvern put the #66 Mercedes he shares with Nick Jones at the head of the class with the #10 Equipe Verschuur McLaren of Finlay Hutchison and Daniel McKay second fastest.

Jack Mitchell currently stands alone atop the GT4 championship standings and the #43 BMW he shares with Dean Macdonald was third quickest, ahead of the Tolman Motorsport McLaren of Charlie Fagg and Michael O'Brien. The sister Century Motorsport car of Ben Tuck and Ben Green was fifth fastest with the #86 Toyota GT86 of Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding sixth.

The #53 Nissan in the hands of Martin Plowman was seventh quickest and the top-eight was completed by the McLaren of Lewis Proctor and Jordan Albert.

The second hour-long practice session gets underway at 11:50 this morning.
