GT4 race winner Albert joins Academy’s Mustang line-up

> Moore and Nicoll-Jones also reprise silver/silver partnership
> One seat still available in race-winning Mustang

Jordan Albert, Will Moore and Matt Nicoll-Jones will share Academy Motorsport’s two Ford Mustang GT4 entries in this year’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

22-year-old Albert joins the team following his last full-season assault with Tolman in 2018 when he scored two class podiums. The BRDC Rising Star was also a championship challenger and race winner in 2016 when he drove Beechdean AMR’s Aston Martin.

He joins an Academy team that has taken over the Mustang’s successful domestic programme from Multimatic Motorsports, which built and ran the car to two victories and second overall in last year’s Drivers’ Championship.

“I’m so happy and fired up to be returning to the British GT Championship, and to be joining Academy Motorsport and Multimatic,” said Albert.

“I am thrilled to welcome my new sponsor, Black Capital Partners, who will be joining me on this exciting journey. Being part of a new team and learning a new car is always a great challenge and the team have a proven record, so it is a good fit for me. There will be a lot of hard work ahead for everyone to ensure we settle in at the sharp end this season, but we’re ready for it.”

While there remains space alongside Albert for a suitable silver-graded driver, Academy has confirmed a proven pairing in its other Mustang. Moore and team owner Nicoll-Jones have become one of the championship’s most consistent silver/silver crews since first joining forces in 2017 and will continue their partnership following Academy’s switch to Ford.

“We are a competitive team, and we plan to demonstrate that once again in 2020,” said Nicoll-Jones. “Jordan is a proven race winner in GT4, and together we aim to challenge for victories. That’s the ultimate goal for everyone.”

The Academy Mustangs will take part in British GT’s annual pre-season Media Day at Snetterton on March 3, while silver-graded drivers interested in discussing the remaining available seat should contact the team directly.

The championship itself gets underway at Oulton Park over Easter Bank Holiday Weekend (April 11 & 13).
