Steller’s Audi GT3 set for British GT debut at Brands Hatch

> GT4 winners Williams and Fielding also make the switch
> Updated 22-car Brands Hatch entry list

Steller Motorsport will make its long-awaited Intelligent Money British GT3 debut at Brands Hatch this weekend when Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding race the team’s new Audi R8 LMS GT3.

The global pandemic initially forced Steller to pause its domestic programme, which now includes all remaining rounds in GT3 and potentially GT4.

Indeed, the team previously announced full-season entries in both classes as part of its burgeoning partnership with Audi. The latest-spec R8 LMS GT3 is the only one of its kind in the UK, while Steller’s GT4 example – which is available for customers to race at Donington, Snetterton and Silverstone – won twice in the hands of Williams and Fielding last year.

Steller’s pairing – one of a record-breaking seven Silver Cup entries this weekend – has only a handful of British GT3 starts between its two drivers. Fielding makes his class debut while Williams steps back into the category for the first time since racing with Trackspeed in 2007/08.

“It’s great to finally be able to give the GT3 its race debut,” said team principal Gary Blackham. “Like so many others in the sport we have been working hard to overcome the significant challenges of the pandemic that delayed the start to our season but now we want to hit the ground running, just as we did when we debuted the GT4 car.

“Sennan and Richard know how to win races and we know that the new Audi is a very competitive package. We’re looking to run very well right from the off.”

This weekend’s British GT3 entry is the first to feature an Audi since 2017 when WRT’s previous-generation R8 raced at Spa. Optimum were the last full-season entrants a year earlier.

Reserve tickets for British GT’s two-hour endurance race at Brands Hatch before 16:00 this Friday, or watch it live across the championship’s website and social media platforms from 13:00 on Sunday. Build-up starts from 12:30 BST.
