Reigning champion Adam joins West for Garage 59’s Silverstone 500 outing

> GT World Challenge Europe championship-leading Aston adds further depth to growing grid

Garage 59 will make its Intelligent Money British GT3 debut at the #Silverstone500 next weekend (November 7/8) when Alex West joins four-time champion Jonny Adam.

The GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup Pro-Am championship leaders arrive home fresh from claiming a Total 24 Hours of Spa podium last weekend. The same Aston Martin Vantage GT3 now heads to Silverstone for a somewhat shorter outing around the British Grand Prix venue, which plays host to British GT’s blue riband three-hour season finale.

West has raced with Garage 59 since 2016 when the team ran McLarens before it switched to Aston Martin machinery two years ago. The Swede has dovetailed his full-season GT World Challenge Europe commitments with outings at the Le Mans 24 Hours, Bathurst 12 Hour and Nurburgring 24 Hours. However, this will be his first-ever British GT appearance.

Adam, of course, is no stranger to the series having racked up four GT3 titles with as many different co-drivers over the last five years. Oddly, just one of his 16 overall wins has come at Silverstone, although the Scot underlined the new-generation Vantage’s pace there last season by qualifying on pole with Graham Davidson.

Silverstone also represents Adam’s second British GT outing of the year following his one-off entry with Andrew Howard and Beechdean AMR at Brands Hatch. He has since won Le Mans’ Pro-Am class with TF Sport, against whom he’ll be racing next weekend.

“I’m excited to be joining Alex and the Garage 59 crew at the Silverstone 500, the final round of British GT,” he said. “It’s a strategic race being three hours and a circuit that should suit our Aston Martin Vantage GT3 perfectly. We have tested well there this season so we’re looking forward to joining in with what promises to be a fantastic season finale.”

Further race-by-race entries – including several new and returning GT3s – will be announced at the start of next week.

Covid measures will prevent spectators from attending British GT’s #SilverstoneShowdown. However, fans around the world can watch the three-hour season finale live on British GT’s Facebook page and website, as well as SRO’s GT World Youtube channel, from 12:45 GMT on November 8.
