Barwell reshuffle sees Carroll join Griffin for Rockingham and Oulton
Adam Carroll will re-join the British GT Championship at Rockingham this weekend as co-driver to Barwell Motorsport’s Liam Griffin aboard the #6 Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

The Northern Irishman, who’s best known for winning the 2008/9 A1GP crown, is no stranger to British GT having contested selected rounds in 2014 and ’15 with an FF Corse Ferrari.

Carroll takes the place of Lamborghini factory driver Fabio Babini, who helped Griffin finish third at Brands Hatch’s opening round earlier this month.

The Italian was also expected to race at Oulton Park in May, but his packed schedule comprising Blancpain GT Series and IMSA Sportscar Championship programmes prompted Barwell to move for an established British driver like Carroll, who knows both Rockingham and Oulton well.

The former F1 test driver also has experience of the Lamborghini having qualified on pole and finished second with a Huracan GT3 during last weekend’s GT Cup round at Donington Park.

Griffin’s podium at Brands Hatch means he and his new co-driver must overcome a 10-second success penalty in Sunday’s two-hour British GT encounter. Nevertheless, Carroll is still confident of securing a solid result.

“I’m really looking forward to racing with Barwell for the first time in their new Lamborghini,” he said. “Liam and I will make a strong pairing and we should have a good chance of some top results in the next two rounds.”

Alexander Sims, whose clashing BMW commitments have ruled him out of the opening three British GT weekends, is still scheduled to partner Griffin from Silverstone onwards.
