Froggatt, Tse and Sky Tempesta confirm race-by-race British GT3 appearances

> Four races across three events for Mercedes-AMG squad

Reigning Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS champions Sky Tempesta Racing will contest four Intelligent Money British GT Championship rounds this year, starting with Oulton Park’s season opening double header on Easter Bank Holiday Weekend (April 16 & 18).

The team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3, which raced at Imola last Sunday, will be shared by Silver-Am pairing Chris Froggatt and Kevin Tse during the three-hour Silverstone 500 and 120-minute race at Brands Hatch, as well as Oulton’s two hour-long sprints.

Team founder Froggatt was part of Tempesta’s Pro-Am title wins in 2020 and ‘21 but has yet to compete in his native series. Tse, meanwhile, made an instant impression when he won on his British GT debut at Oulton – also at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG – last September.

“I am extremely thrilled to be joining the Sky Tempesta family,” said Tse, who also became Macau’s first-ever British GT winner last year. “They are a winning team and were overall champions in 2021 so I have every confidence that we will have a well-prepared car. I’m also looking forward to driving with Chris, who’s a very fast and established GT driver. For sure I can learn from him and hopefully we’ll achieve some good results together.”

“We’re very happy to be doing several British GT rounds this year,” added Froggatt. “I’ve been watching it for the past few years and am very keen to get stuck in! It will be my first time racing at Oulton Park but I have fallen in love with the circuit already from the test day we did.

“Equally, it’s going to be a pleasure sharing the car with Kevin for these rounds. He performed incredibly well last year at Oulton and has shown real professionalism in his approach. Hopefully this is a pairing capable of some strong results.”

Their entry will be overseen by two leading Mercedes-AMG outfits across the four races and three events: 2 Seas Motorsport are running the car on the opening weekend alongside their full-season effort before former British GT champions, current DTM squad and Tempesta’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe partner, GruppeM Racing, take over for Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

The blue riband Silverstone 500 will mark GruppeM’s first British GT involvement since guiding a then 18-year-old Jonny Cocker to the 2004 crown. He remains the youngest driver to win the overall championship.

The addition of Sky Tempesta Racing means 18 GT3 entries are currently scheduled to contest Oulton’s season opener next weekend. MSV’s advance sales end Wednesday, although tickets can still be purchased on the gate subject to availability.
