2018 Intelligent Money British GT champions Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam are reuniting for a partial campaign with 2 Seas Motorsport this season, starting at next weekend’s Silverstone 500 (May 7-8).
The duo haven’t raced together since clinching the title at Donington four years ago when Haigh became the first woman to win British GT’s senior crown. She has only competed sporadically since then, most notably as Team GB’s representative at the 2019 FIA Motorsport Games.
Adam, meanwhile, added a fourth drivers’ championship to his collection in 2019 following his history-making achievement with Haigh, before re-joining old sparring partner Andrew Howard in 2021.
The Aston Martin Racing factory driver has made all 96 of his previous British GT appearances – and clinched 16 overall wins – aboard either the DBRS9, V12 Vantage or Vantage AMR. But that will change at Silverstone – as well as Snetterton and Brands Hatch – when he drives 2 Seas’ Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The same team and car won last year’s blue riband, three-hour British GT round. Now its new driver combination, which will use their title winning #75, are hoping to roll back the years at the same event.
“It’s taken a while, but I am so pleased to be able to say that I’m back,” said Haigh, whose title win also came in her maiden British GT campaign. “The British GT Championship holds some really fantastic memories, and it is great to continue this journey alongside Jonny and to join 2 Seas Motorsport. I am really pleased to be heading to Silverstone for our first race where we scored a podium back in 2018, and the team had a great result there last year, so we are going to be pushing for a strong result from the start and looking to build on this at Snetterton and Brands Hatch.”
Adam, who remains an AMR factory driver but is permitted to compete in other machinery, added: “I am super excited to be back in British GT for a few selected rounds, and back racing with Flick. Last time we raced together we shared a championship victory in 2018 and it’s great to see her back behind the wheel of a GT3 car. We have tested with 2 Seas Motorsport and the team have been great to work with, so we have high hopes to try and achieve some solid results for Flick on her return back to British GT.”
The entry, which will run in 2 Seas’ traditional blue and black colour scheme, joins the Anglo-Bahraini squad’s full-season Mercedes-AMG GT3 shared by James Cottingham and Lewis Williamson.
“It is a real coup for us to confirm that Flick and Jonny will be reunited to take on these additional British GT events,” said team co-owner Isa Al Khalifa. “Flick secured the [GT3] title on her debut, which is a huge result, and remains the only female driver to have achieved this. Jonny has proved on multiple occasions to be the class of the field and is one of the most successful drivers in the history of the championship. It is really exciting to bring them back together, and we are excited to see them both competing with us in the Mercedes-AMG.”
