Andrew Howard will join Sky Tempesta Racing for the Intelligent Money British GT Championship’s visit to Brands Hatch next week.
The former two-time champion is best known for his exploits with Beechdean AMR and Aston Martin but has already raced Paddock Motorsport’s McLaren this year and is now also set to sample Mercedes-AMG machinery for the first time.
Howard shares the 2 Seas Motorsport-run GT3 entry with fellow Am driver Chris Froggatt who previously raced the car at Oulton Park and Silverstone alongside Kevin Tse, as well as in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.
“It’s great to get back behind the wheel of a racing car as I haven’t raced anything since the Paul Ricard Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe event at the start of June,” said Howard. “That feels like quite a while ago so I’m very pleased to join 2 Seas Motorsport for Brands Hatch. Not only can I use this chance to keep myself race-sharp, but also to sample the Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the first time. It’s the third different model of GT3 car I’ll have raced this year, and there’s probably nobody else on the grid that can say that, so I feel quite privileged.
“Nick [Christofaro] and Isa [Al Khalifa] have amassed an impressive number of trophies for a team that was established less than three years ago and my good friend Jonny Adam – who has raced with them twice already this year – has told me how highly he rates the job they’re doing. Brands Hatch is a great circuit and one I’m eager to get back to.”
2 Seas also operates the car shared by full-season duo James Cottingham and Lewis Williamson. However, Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam – who are running a part-season with the team – have now opted against racing at Brands Hatch.
Meanwhile, Beechdean AMR’s Vantage is set to return to British GT at Donington Park in October. Its driver line up will be confirmed after Brands Hatch.
