The Intelligent Money British GT Championship’s Spa-Francorchamps result has now been finalised following a National Court ruling earlier today. Points can therefore be allocated and Success Penalties applied to both classes before this Sunday’s race at Brands Hatch.
The Paddock Motorsport (#11) and Fox Motorsport (#40) GT3 entries failed post-qualifying technical checks at Spa where both teams subsequently chose to race under appeal from their original grid positions rather than starting at the back.
This joint appeal has now been upheld by the National Court.
Fox Motorsport and Paddock Motorsport therefore retain their first and seventh place race positions, while the top 10 GT3 and GT4 finishers receive points as per the provisional classification. Brands Hatch’s 20, 15 and 10-second Success Penalties have also been apportioned to the podium finishers in both categories.
It also means that Ian Loggie holds a 39-point lead over James Cottingham and Lewis Williamson in the GT3 drivers’ championship. The Scot requires a 38-point advantage to clinch the title with a race to spare on Sunday.
