Century receives first of two new BMW M4 GT4s

Century has received the first of two new BMW M4 GT4s with which it intends to contest next season’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

Nathan Freke’s outfit first became a BMW Motorsport customer in 2018, since when it has won teams’ and drivers’ titles with each of the manufacturer’s two M4 iterations.

The original F82 model, with which Jack Mitchell won the championship in 2018, was upgraded to Evo spec in time for 2021 when Gus Burton and Will Burns dominated the season en route to the drivers’ crown.

The BMW programme also saw Century become the first and to date only British team to operate the new-for-2022 M4 GT3, which claimed victory at Donington’s season finale last month.

And that relationship will continue into next year when the new G82-based GT4 looks set to make its British GT bow.

The first chassis is now with Century but due to depart for Dubai in time for Creventic’s 24-hour race there in January. The second car is expected in February, one month before British GT’s media day at Donington on March 14.

“It’s great to be extending our relationship further with BMW Motorsport,” said Century’s team principal Nathan Freke. “The support has been second to none and we have become the ‘go to’ team in the UK to race BMWs.

“It was an easy decision to continue with the new car (G82) given the success we had with the current generation (F82). The new generation looks to be a real game changer and now we have seen it and worked on it in the flesh we are super excited to hit the track and get going with it.

“Its first outing will be in Dubai where we will be looking for a good result. We will collect our second in February where we will start our extensive UK test programme.”

Season 31 gets underway at Oulton Park on April 8 & 10.
