2023: DTO Motorsport joins GT4 grid with new McLaren Artura

> Ginetta champions Millar and Rowledge team up in Silver entry

McLaren’s new Artura GT4 will contest the Intelligent Money British GT Championship this season with DTO Motorsport, Aston Millar and Josh Rowledge.

Both teenagers are former Ginetta Junior champions – Rowledge last season and Millar in 2021 – while the latter also finished third in 2022’s Ginetta GT4 SuperCup standings with DTO.

That programme was the team’s first foray into competitive motorsport after starting out as a driving events and experience company. Sky Sports F1 pundit and former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok acts as DTO’s head of motorsport while head of engineering Eddy Hall can call on previous British GT experience.

“We are extremely excited to be entering into the Intelligent Money British GT Championship and what better way to do it than with the new McLaren Artura GT4,” said Hall. “Improving on our debut season in 2022, this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase what DTO are capable of. We’re pleased to be continuing our racing journey with Aston Millar and with Josh Rowledge joining the DTO team, we’ll be highly competitive.”

18-year-old Millar added: “I’m feeling really confident going into the 2023 British GT GT4 season. It’s great having such a fantastic team around me and Josh and being back with DTO for another season feels like the right place to be.”

Rowledge, meanwhile – who is a year younger than his co-driver – is confident of challenging for the title in only his third year of car racing.

“I’m over the moon to be joining DTO for the 2023 British GT GT4 Championship,” he said. “I believe that with the strong pairing of me and Aston, we will have the best possibility of winning the championship in the new McLaren Artura.”

DTO’s is the first new Artura GT4 to be officially confirmed for the upcoming campaign. The replacement to McLaren’s highly successful 570S makes its British GT debut at Oulton Park some seven years after its predecessor first hit the track.

Optimum Motorsport has also expressed interest in running the cars this year, while other currently unannounced teams also look set to do so.

Donington hosts the Intelligent Money British GT Championship’s media day on March 14 before the first of this year’s seven events take place at Oulton Park over Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.
