2023: Holland and Crees fill Raceway’s second Ginetta G56 GT4

2023: Holland and Crees fill Raceway’s second Ginetta G56 GT4

Michael Crees and Tom Holland will campaign the second of Raceway Motorsport’s two Ginetta G56 GT4 entries in this year’s Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

The Ginetta specialist unveiled its first crew, Freddie Tomlinson and Stuart Middleton, earlier this week but has now potentially put itself in teams’ championship contention by announcing experienced BTCC racer Crees and 2022 GT Academy runner-up Holland.

The latter enters his third season with the Yorkshire squad after also finishing second in 2021’s Ginetta G40 Pro standings before graduating to the G56-based GTA series last year.

And Holland believes that continuity will be crucial to his GT4 chances this year.

“I’ve been part of Raceway for the last two years and the whole team now feels like an extension of my family, so I’m ecstatic to be continuing my adventure with them and Ginetta in British GT,” said the 20-year-old.

“This year will be a big step in my career with a different race format, multi-class split grid and a new car in the form of the Ginetta G56 GT4. But I am confident in myself and the team that we can both push to achieve great success in British GT.”

His new co-driver’s CV also includes Ginetta success. Crees won the GT4 Supercup Am class title with another British GT outfit, Century, in 2018 before turning his attention to the British Touring Car Championship in 2019-20 and last season. He has also made several Porsche Supercup appearances with Team Parker Racing.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to get a deal done with Raceway Motorsport so late in the day as I honestly thought I would be sitting out this year due to some bad luck with sponsors,” he said. “But I have to thank Luca [Hirst, team principal], Nigel [Holland] and Tom Holland for pulling this all together at such late notice!

“It will be a massive challenge but one I’m looking forward to as GT racing has always been on my radar and Le Mans has always been my end goal. I’m really looking forward to working with Ginetta again where I had so much success when starting out. Massive thanks to Vince [Caldicott] who has been by my side and my family for all their support. Roll on Oulton!”

The Cheshire circuit hosts British GT’s season opener on April 8 & 10. But before that, both Raceway Ginettas will make their first public appearances at the championship’s Donington Park media day this Tuesday. Fans can attend for free from 08:30.
