Super sub Keen to cover for Gounon and Adam at 2 Seas

Phil Keen is returning to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship on a part-time basis this season with 2 Seas Motorsport.

The perennial title contender and all-time wins record holder (19x GT3 and overall) will cover for Jonny Adam and Jules Gounon, whose respective Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG factory commitments prevent them from competing at three of this year’s seven events.

Keen will replace Adam at Silverstone and the #DoningtonDecider in a move that sees James Cottingham sharing his season with British GT’s two most successful drivers in terms of titles and wins. Indeed, long-time championship rivals Keen and Adam have scored a combined 35 GT3 victories between them.

Ian Loggie, meanwhile, is no stranger to racing with Keen outside of British GT and shared his Mercedes-AMG with him at media day in Gounon’s absence. The French-Andorran’s IMSA factory commitments will take priority over Algarve.

“It’s great to be back in the British GT paddock for another season,” said Keen, for whom 2023 will be his 16th consecutive year. “Really looking forward to working with 2 Seas Motorsport – they are a great team, they have made me feel very welcome already, and I feel like I’ve been there a season already.

“Also looking forward to racing with Ian and James, who have proven themselves to be two of the best on the grid, and I think both are strong title contenders for this season. I’m looking forward to working with everyone to keep the championship momentum!”

Keen and Adam’s era-defining rivalry is highlighted by their remarkable run of victories over the last decade. Incredibly, last season was the first since 2010 that neither won a British GT race, although Adam was only denied win #17 by a late puncture whilst leading at Snetterton.
