Nick Jones and Scott Malvern will hand the new 992-spec Porsche 911 GT3 R its Intelligent Money British GT Championship debut at Silverstone next weekend when they make a one-off return to the series.
Team Parker Racing’s long-standing duo have opted to compete in Europe this season after spending seven years in their domestic GT3 and GT4 classes. The three-time race winners and 2019 GT4 Pro-Am champions spent their final two years campaigning the now previous generation 991.2 before switching to Stuttgart’s latest GT3 offering ahead of a Le Mans Cup programme.
However, that championship’s recently re-jigged calendar has created an opportunity for 2019’s GT4 Silverstone 500 winners to contest British GT’s blue riband three-hour race for an eighth time in succession.
The familiar sky blue, white and black SD livery, which has become one of the series’ defining designs in recent years, also makes a welcome return.
It’s joined in TPR’s garage by the team’s full-season GT4 entry but also another race-by-race contender in the shape of a 991.2-spec 911 GT3 R shared by Alex Martin and Charles Bateman. Like Jones and Malvern, the Silver-Am duo are racing together with Team Parker in Le Mans Cup this season.
Former BTCC and Carrera Cup UK driver Martin makes his British GT debut while Bateman appears on the entry list for the first time since finishing third in 2012’s GT3 standings. That was the same season, incidentally, as he won the Silverstone 500 with United Autosports.
The Silverstone 500 is live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and Sky Sports F1 from midday this Sunday (May 7). For tickets visit silverstone.co.uk.
