SILVERSTONE 500: Steller, Topham and Burke add Audi to packed GT3 entry

Steller Motorsport makes its first British GT3 start for five years at the Silverstone 500 next weekend when Matt Topham and Darren Burke share an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2.

The team represented the same manufacturer in GT4 last year but hasn’t contested the senior class since Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding raced at Silverstone in 2020.

It’s now a Corvette partner team in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS where its Z06 GT3.R scored a class podium on debut last weekend. However, at Silverstone it is reverting to the tried and trusted Audi, which will run in the Silver-Am class.

Topham, a two-time 500 winner in GT4, has yet to race the R8 but did substitute for Rob Collard in Barwell’s Lamborghini last time out at Donington. The car shares similar architecture to the Audi.

He’s joined by Darren Burke who makes his British GT3 debut after spending 2023 in the GT4 ranks. The pair first met at the start of Topham’s motorsport career in Caterhams where Burke is a highly respected driver coach and have remained friends ever since. Indeed, Burke was set to partner Topham in his first GT4 campaign before Aston Martin Racing factory driver Darren Turner joined the programme. They did, however, make a one-off appearance together at Donington in 2021.

Steller’s Audi is Silverstone’s second guest GT3 entry to be announced. More will be confirmed when the entry list is revealed next week.
