Holland and Simpson join British GT debutants Innovation

Innovation Racing makes its British GT Championship debut this season with Thomas Holland, Hadley Simpson and Ginetta.

Officially established in 2024, Innovation was built on the 15 years of experience accrued across various national and club series by team owner and principal Simon Griffiths. It contested GT Cup last season with the previous generation G55 GT4 but has upgraded to the current G56 Evo for its British GT bow.

Both drivers have substantial recent experience of the same car.

Holland contested British GT with the same car in 2023 and ‘24 after previously racing in Ginetta GT Academy and G40. He now returns to the domestic GT4 ranks after spending a year in McLaren Trophy Europe.

“I’m really excited to be returning to the British GT paddock for this year, a paddock in which I started my racing career back in 2020 in the GRDC championship,” he said. “I’ve gotten to know the G56 over my last two stints in British GT and believe that, along with the team, we will be able to get the most out of the car this year.

“Innovation is such a welcoming team and I’m looking forward to working with them for the year ahead and showing everyone how competitive we can be.

“For 2026 we race in aid of Cancer Research UK. I would like to thank my new financial partners Hoover who will join previous partners Gnosis Executive and Brim Chargers and I hope to make them proud this year by bringing home some good results on and off the track.”

Simpson, meanwhile, makes his British GT4 debut following a dual Ginetta GT Championship and GT Cup campaign. Both were spent driving a G56, and the latter with Innovation.

“I am incredibly excited to announce my step up to the British GT Championship with Innovation Racing alongside Thomas Holland,” he said.

“From competing in Innovation’s very first race to now signing for British GT is a huge moment for both myself and the team. I’m proud to continue being part of this journey and can’t thank Simon Griffiths and everyone at Innovation Racing enough for the opportunity.

“Thomas brings a huge amount of experience to the line-up and I’m looking forward to learning and progressing alongside my new team-mate.

“To be competing on the biggest stage in British motorsport means a lot, and I can’t wait to see all the fans this season.

Griffiths added: “We are thrilled to announce the addition of Thomas and Hadley to our team as we kick off our inaugural season in the British GT Championship, driving our newly acquired Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo.

“It fills me with immense pride to reflect on the remarkable journey my team has undertaken over the past year. Transitioning from 15 years of club sport racing to establishing ourselves as a professional race team has been a monumental achievement, and now we are poised to compete at the highest level of GT racing in the UK.

“I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me in reaching this pinnacle of motorsport; while I cannot name everyone individually, they know who they are and their contributions have been invaluable.

“As we prepare for the upcoming season, I am eager to see how we measure up against some of the finest GT racing teams in Europe, and I am confident that our hard work and dedication will shine through on the track.

Silverstone hosts the joint British GT/Ginetta media day on March 31 before both championships return to the same venue for their opening rounds in April.
