Jack Mitchell and Aleksander Scjherpen have completed Century Motorsport’s full-season BMW GT4 driver line-up ahead of British GT’s opening round at Oulton Park this weekend.
However, with Schjerpen unable to attend due to clashing commitments, BMW Motorsport Junior Driver Ricky Collard will make his championship debut in place of the Norwegian.
Mitchell is switching back to the GT4 class, which he contested in 2016, after a successful GT3 campaign aboard Macmillan AMR’s Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 with which he claimed four podiums and a pole position.
His full-season co-driver Schjerpen is also no stranger to the championship or Century having raced for the Fenny Compton-based team in 2014-17.
Schjerpen’s super-sub for this weekend, Collard, returns to the British GT package for the first time since finishing second in 2016’s BRDC British Formula 3 standings. Since then the 21-year-old has become a BMW Motorsport Junior Driver and now competes in Germany’s domestic ADAC GT Masters series. He also claimed a class victory with the Bavarian manufacturer at last year’s Nurburgring 24 Hours.
Meanwhile, Team HARD. Racing was also forced to find a replacement for Nick Worm this week after personal reasons prevented the German from making his British GT debut at Oulton. William Phillips, who finished fifth in 2017’s GT4 standings, therefore subs for the German alongside the #88 Ginetta G55’s regular driver, Benjamin Wallace.
Oulton Park stages the opening round of 2018’s British GT Championship this Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday. Tickets are still available on the gate, while raceday’s driver autograph session and pitwalk is free to attend. Children aged 13-and-under can also attend for free.
