FTR Vain has wrapped up the TORA British GT eSports Drivers’ title at Brands Hatch after scoring another victory, while Beechdean AMR claimed GT4 class honours in both races.
The American Porsches have dominated this year’s championship and duly qualified one-two once again after Vain lapped two tenths quicker than team-mate Kurt von Autenreid. Ashley Senior’s JDC/THR Motorsport Aston Martin claimed a fine third on the grid ahead of Anthony Olivo’s MRT McLaren and Pirtek Racing’s three BMWs.
Vain’s subsequent straightforward win duly secured him the title with a round to spare, which was handy after he confirmed that prior commitments would see him miss British GT’s season finale.
Von Autenreid also gave his chances of finishing runner-up a boost by winning Race 2 at Brands Hatch ahead of Vain on a day when FTR’s 911s were once again the class of the field.
FTR’s double one-two meant there was only room for one other driver on the two podiums. Jamie Cutting scored Pirtek’s best result of the season in Race 1 to finish third, while Senior’s JDC/THR Vantage claimed the final step on Race 2’s rostrum.
In GT4, the EVR Beechdean Motorsport team took their first two wins of the season thanks to Kieran Millward who was able to fend off the attentions of FTR’s GT4 squad throughout the opening encounter in particular.
Those wins also bolstered Beechdean's position in the GT4 Teams’ championship, with the squad now sitting fourth and tantalisingly close to the top three. Midnight Club Sport-Eclipse remain largely secure at the head of the pack while FTR GT4 UK Racing are second ahead of British GT’s Mugello season finale on September 16.
