Fox confirm GT4 return with Murfitt and Broadhurst; launch fan livery competition

Fox Motorsport are offering British GT fans a chance to determine the livery of its Mercedes-AMG after confirming a GT4 entry and unchanged driver line-up for the upcoming campaign.

Mark Murfitt and Michael Broadhurst return for a second season together in the series after finishing sixth in 2018’s Pro-Am classification. It was only Murfitt’s second year of racing but, by mid-season, the duo had established themselves as regular Pro-Am class contenders.

“The 2018 British GT season was a bit of an eye-opener for me,” Murfitt admitted. “For only my second season of racing, I was extremely impressed by not only the level of competition in GT4, but also by the professionalism of the series as a whole on race weekends and the ability it gave us to spread awareness of Murfitts Industries to the motorsport audience.

“The most pleasing thing, however, was my own progress. Michael and the Fox team helped me develop my driving in the areas that needed it and we were consistently challenging for GT4 Pro-Am poles by mid-season. We’ll carry everything we’ve learnt into the new season and aim to take ourselves to the next level.”

However, it’s the opportunity for fans to determine the design of Fox’s Mercedes-AMG, which is backed by the UK's largest recycler of end-of-life tyres, Murfitt's Industries, that will grab the attention of British GT fans.

Four shortlisted designs have been penned by the renowned Keith Wood of Hype Creative. From today, fans can vote for their favourite on Fox Motorsport’s Facebook page before the most popular design – to be revealed on March 1 – is adopted as the team’s official full-season livery.

One lucky voter who chose the final design will also win a pair of tickets for the season opener at Oulton Park on April 20/22. Fans can vote for their favourite of Fox’s four livery designs here.

“We’ve generally had a fantastic response from British GT fans, so we wanted to give an opportunity to feel a bit closer to the action this year by asking them to choose our livery,” said team principal Paul McNeilly. “The four designs from Hype Creative all look superb, so we’re confident of having the most striking-looking car on the grid in any case.”

Broadhurst, meanwhile, has his sights firmly set on winning the Pro-Am class title.

“It is a privilege to be returning to the British GT Championship in 2019 to build on what we achieved last year and take things to the next level,” he said. “In 2018, our first year with the Mercedes-AMG GT4, we showed glimpses of our potential and we aim to capitalise on the experience we gained by launching a bid for the GT4 Pro-Am title.

“We’ve used the long winter break to develop ourselves in key areas, build an even closer relationship within our fantastic team – who set the standards for speed and efficiency in the pits last year – and return with arguably the finest GT4 car on the planet. I can’t wait to get started.”

Tickets for British GT’s opening round at Oulton Park are on sale now, while fans can also attend the championship’s annual pre-season media day at Donington for free on March 5.
