Intelligent Money British GT Championship fans are set for a treat on Sunday (June 7) – the date they should have been watching this year’s Silverstone 500. Instead, organisers are streaming last season’s three-hour race as-live on the series’ Facebook page from 13:00 BST.
The 2019 edition of British GT’s blue riband round served up an epic race-long contest between RAM Racing’s Ian Loggie and Callum Macleod, TF Sport’s Graham Davidson and Jonny Adam, and Balfe Motorsport’s Shaun Balfe and Rob Bell. But with a dodgy door latch scuppering the McLaren’s chances at the final pitstop, it was left to Macleod’s Mercedes-AMG and Adam’s Aston Martin to duke it out over the closing laps. And what a grandstand finish they produced!
GT4 also served up a memorable encounter as several potential frontrunners fell by the wayside. Ultimately, it was Team Parker’s Nick Jones and Scott Malvern who secured a deserved and very popular first overall class victory ahead of one-time entrants ERC Sport (featuring AMG factory driver Maxi Buhk) and Beechdean AMR.
A record GT4 entry and overall total of 42 cars – British GT’s largest entry since 2013 – added to a particularly special occasion at Silverstone where the GT3 winners were awarded the historic RAC Trophy.
