Adam ‘ready’ for Daytona 24 Hours following successful ROAR test

Reigning British GT3 champion Jonny Adam warmed up for the Daytona 24 Hours by sampling his first taste of the Action Express Racing #31 Corvette DP at the annual Roar Before the 24 test last weekend.

The Scot is set to contest the endurance classic as part of his prize for winning last year’s Sunoco Whelen Challenge following a stellar season-long British GT campaign with Beechdean AMR.

Adam joined Action Express regulars Dane Cameron and Eric Curran, as well as fellow Daytona-only driver Simon Pagenaud, at the three-day test. Together the crew proved a consistent top-10 presence before setting a best time of 1m40.011s to finish the final session third overall and fastest of the DP contingent.

Corvette’s DP-spec machine is very different to the GT cars Adam has raced in recent seasons and offers the AMR factory ace an opportunity to win the celebrated event outright. The race itself, held on January 30/31, will be his second appearance there after competing with Aston Martin in 2014.

“Testing went very well with Action Express Racing and Sunoco at the Roar before the 24,” said Adam afterwards. “The team made me very welcome and I got up to speed with the Daytona Prototype quickly, which allowed us to do a lot of preparation ahead of the big race in the next few weeks.

“I feel ready now for the race and with the way the car, team and my team-mates are working together I think we have a competitive package going into the event. Here's hoping for a good start to 2016.”

Following his Daytona exploits, Adam will return to defend his British GT3 title alongside new TF Sport co-driver and 2010 Sunoco Challenge winner Derek Johnston.

The opening round of this season’s British GT Championship comes from Brands Hatch on April 16/17.
