Championship leader Ian Loggie may have got his Spa Saturday off to a delayed start, but he and team-mate Jules Gounon wasted little time in second practice, putting their #6 RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG top of the times. Likewise, Academy Motorsport’s Ford Mustang duo of Marco Signoretti and Matt Cowley made amends for losing out on top spot late on in FP1 to seize the advantage in GT4.
Having opted to sit out the day’s opening practice session, Loggie and Gounon made an instant impact in the second, with AMG ace Gounon hitting the front at quarter distance, before then improving again to put the #6 1.5s clear of the pack.
That laid down a marker for others to chase, and it was Sandy Mitchell who got closest to it, with the Scotsman’s best lap putting the Barwell Lamborghini he shares with Adam Balon second in the order, albeit still 0.5s down on Gounon’s best.
Simon Watts and James Kell enjoyed an impressive session to finish third overall in the Team Rocket RJN McLaren 720S GT3, with David Holloway and Joel Eriksson’s Century Motorsport BMW M4 winding up fourth. It could well have been more, with Eriksson setting an outright best final sector right before the session was called to a close a few seconds early when Redline’s #32 Porsche stopped with a puncture.
Lewis Proctor brought the #5 Greystone GT McLaren he shares with father Stewart up to fifth fastest late on, with Sam Neary doing likewise to put the Abba Mercedes-AMG he shares with his father Richard sixth.
After missing out on the top time during morning practice, Marco Signoretti and Matt Cowley aced FP2, putting their Academy Motorsport Ford Mustang top of the pile.
R Racing’s Josh Miller and Jamie Day led the way for the vast majority of the session, with the #23 Vantage enjoying a sizable lead until mid-session when Signoretti began his mission. First he closed to within a few tenths of the leading Aston, and then surpassed it by 0.2s with his final effort.
Lucky Khera and Benji Hetherington were third fastest aboard the Valluga Racing Porsche 718 Cayman, which was enough to earn the duo top spot in Pro-Am. Richard Williams and Sennan Fielding were fourth in the Steller Motorsport Audi that had topped FP1, ahead of Jamie Orton and Seb Hopkins’ Team Parker Racing Porsche. Kevin Tse/Antares Au rounded out the top six in their Herberth Motorsport Cayman.
Qualifying is scheduled to start at 16:20, with the session enjoying live streaming coverage via britishgt.com/live and the GT World YouTube channel.
