Ian Duggan and Joe Wheeler are reuniting to campaign the second of Mahiki Racing’s three Lotus Emira GT4 entries this year.
The pair previously raced Toro Verde’s Ginetta in 2023 before Duggan joined Gordie Mutch at Mahiki last season. Third overall at Silverstone proved the highlight of their year en route to 10th in the overall standings and fifth in Pro-Am.
“I’m pleased to be back with Mahiki Racing for their second year, and looking forward to another incredible season ahead,” he said.
2024, meanwhile, proved relatively quiet for 21-year-old Wheeler after he first joined British GT three years ago. His two GT4 seasons to date were both spent aboard Ginettas, but he’s now eager to get to grips with the Emira which made its domestic debut with Mahiki and Duggan last season.
"It’s a pleasure to be partnering Ian again this season after the success of the last three rounds in 2023,” he said. “I'm also thrilled to be witth Mahiki and Lotus, and looking forward to a strong campaign this season.”
Mahiki revealed its new-look British GT programme last week by announcing that former GT4 champion Jack Mitchell would partner Steven Lake. A third Lotus, which looks set to contest the Silver class, is also confirmed.
Mahiki’s Emiras will attend the British GT media day at Silverstone on March 21. Fans can reserve their free ticket now at https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/british-gt-championship.
The seven-round, nine-race championship begins at Donington Park on April 5-6.
