Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonny Adam will again spearhead Blackthorn AMR’s British GT Championship assault this year.
The duo finished ninth overall last season but that was unrepresentative of the potential Blackthorn unlocked from its new-generation Aston Martin Vantage over the second half of the campaign. Retirement denied a likely victory at Spa before Petrobelli and Adam recorded their best result of the year – second place overall – at Donington.
2025 will be the 10th anniversary of Adam’s first British GT title. Three more have followed, all at the wheel of Aston Martin’s first-generation Vantage. A fifth crown, with the third iteration of the car that debuted last year, would be his first since 2019.
“I can’t wait to get going for British GT in 2025,” he said. “Last season we learnt so much and had a few glimpses of performance and the goal this season is to make a championship challenge. Racing with Giacomo is always fun and professional; that alongside Blackthorn’s experience with the Aston Martin Vantage Evo GT3 will give us a great opportunity of success.”
Petrobelli, meanwhile, is yet to win a British GT race let alone a title. But he showed enough potential in 2024 to suggest Blackthorn’s entry will be amongst the frontrunners this year.
“I am delighted to be back for another season of British GT with Blackthorn and Aston Martin Racing, and most importantly sharing a car with Jonny,” he said. “We made a lot of progress as a team and a driver pairing last season and I believe we can be in contention at most races this year. I can’t wait to get started.”
Blackthorn’s Vantage will attend the British GT media day at Silverstone on March 21. Fans can also reserve their free ticket now at https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/british-gt-championship.
The seven-round, nine-race championship begins at Donington Park on April 5-6.
