• Global GT4 competition set for marathon 100-race campaign with addition of SRO GT Cup

The GT4 Manufacturer Ranking begins its second season of global competition next weekend (22/23 March) with an expanded calendar and a refreshed points system being the major developments for 2025.
Launched last year, the Ranking allows GT4 brands to score points in selected series organised or licensed by SRO Motorsports Group. Eight brands fought for supremacy in 2024, with BMW emerging as the inaugural winner following a marathon campaign comprising 95 races staged across 50 events.
The Bavarian marque beat Porsche and Aston Martin to the top of the standings, with Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Toyota, Audi and Ford completing the 2024 table. The same eight marques return for this year’s contest, which will see new models introduced by BMW (M4 GT4 EVO) and Toyota (GR Supra GT4 EVO2).
While the protagonists are unchanged, the calendar expands thanks to the addition of a ninth series. The SRO GT Cup will comprise seven 30-minute races staged across four events in China. The long road towards GT4 Manufacturer Ranking glory begins at Shanghai International Circuit (22/23 March), where the newly launched series supports the Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix.
A further development for 2025 sees a new points system introduced, aligning the GT4 Manufacturer Ranking with its GT3 equivalent, GT World Challenge powered by AWS. Points will now be awarded per the overall classification of each race, with a maximum of two cars per registered manufacturer eligible to score. Cars from manufacturers not entered in the Ranking will be considered invisible, and their positions and points will be redistributed to the next eligible entry.
For sprint races lasting up to 90 minutes points will be scored using the standard global system, running from 25 for the winner to one for 10th place. For races lasting two or three hours, the standard points allocation is doubled, with 50 for the winner down to two for 10th spot. Class results no longer contribute towards the Ranking and, as was the case last year, global results and points attribution are separate to each series’ own standings.
Following the SRO GT Cup opener, seven more series will launch before the end of April, with events in the United States, Great Britain, Australia, France and Germany establishing a relentless pace that continues throughout the year. The weekends of 26/27 April and 6/7 September will each see four different series in action, while there is just one off-weekend between mid-March and late-September, including an unbroken run of 24 race weekends.
In total, 100 races spread across 53 events will make up the 2025 GT4 Manufacturer Ranking season. As well as the opener, the SRO GT Cup will also provide the concluding event, with the final standings set to be decided at the Greater Bay Area GT Cup on 15/16 November.
