Multimatic Motorsports has revealed a revised driver line-up for its second Ford Mustang GT4 ahead of this weekend’s British GT season opener at Oulton Park.
FIA WEC factory driver Billy Johnson was originally slated to race the team’s #19 entry, which will now be shared by a rolling driver roster throughout the campaign. Up first are American Silver Cup duo Jade Buford and Chad McCumbee who claimed GT4 class honours while also driving a Mustang at the recent California 8 Hours.
“This will be my first time out at Oulton Park but I’ve been spending time in the simulator to learn my way around,” said Buford. “British GT is also new to me but I’m sure we will be up to the task. The Mustang is a great car and I think it will be well suited to Oulton, with its mix of high speed and low speed point-and-shoot corners, which should play to our strengths. Let’s hope Chad and I can continue our winning ways!”
Multimatic’s second Silver Cup pairing of Seb Priaulx and Scott Maxwell, which was confirmed for the full season during British GT’s Media Day, features the biggest age gap - 35 years - of any crew competing in 2019.
“I’m feeling positive and confident that Scott and I can have a good result at Oulton Park,” said Priaulx. “We’ve had some good tests now and I feel right at home in the Mustang and with the Multimatic team.
Oulton Park is a good track for me. It’s a real driver’s track; fast and twisting and I’ve won there twice before too. The Mustang should go well at Oulton as it is strong on downforce and, of course, it has plenty of grunt to power out of the corners. Let’s hope we can get the season off to a great start.”
